Guilty Pleasures
Anita lives in St Louis, vampire capital of an America that had recognised vampires as legal beings. Anita Blake is an animator. She raises zombies for a living and is also a court appointed vampire executioner. Vampires can not be kept in prison because they are uncontrollable, so once the vampire has been proven guilty it’s the death sentence for them. This is where Anita comes in.
Anita is a specialist consultant with the police. The Regional Preternatural Investigation Team investigates crimes of a supernatural nature. At the start of Guilty Pleasures Anita is asked to investigate a murder, which she establishes is a ghoul attack. She has more problems than trying to find the ghouls responsible. Nickolaos, the master vampire of the city, wants Anita to find out who has been killing vampires in the city...
The Laughing Corpse
Harold Gaynor offers Anita Blake a million dollars to raise a 300-year-old zombie. Knowing it means a human sacrifice will be necessary, Anita turns him down. But when dead bodies start turning up, she realizes that someone else has raised Harold's zombie--and that the zombie is a killer. Anita pits her power against the zombie and the voodoo priestess who controls it.
Circus of the Damned

Anita fights a particularly monstrous vampire named Vittorio. Aided by sadistic serial killer Otto Jefferies, convenient sociopath Edward Kemper and fanged escorts handpicked by her lover Jean-Claude, Anita offers her services to Las Vegas, now under siege from Vittorio's army of enthralled preternatural beings. Anita employs her insight into Vittorio's condition and weaponized libido as the decisive weapons in this struggle.

Anita uses her powers in self-defense against Nicky, a were-lion that had kidnapped her to perform a zombie raising for his client.
Bullet
The Mother of All Darkness, the first vampire, wants to enter into a new human body...and the one she has in mind belongs to Anita Blake. Marmee Noir's spirit returns to attack Anita and the Vampire Council. Marmee Noir's plan was to have a powerful were-tiger impregnate Anita and then to possess the unborn infant, but her plans shift to her taking over Anita's body or kill her in the process.
